I believe we all have natural gifts and resources within us, and once identified these will provide a good foundation for building on additional skills. I want to assist you in identifying and building on your current strengths to help you achieve your own goals.
Starting off after college with positions in business and administration, then staying home to raise a family, I returned to school to get my Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling (MAPC) from Ottawa University with a special focus in Trauma, Abuse, and Deprivation. I currently am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and am a Certified EMDR therapist through EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).
Now in private practice at Central Phoenix Counseling, I continue striving to help children, teenagers, families, and young adults to enhance their existing strengths and resources and achieve the changes they desire.
All of the psychotherapy interventions I utilize focus on a strength-based approach. We all have natural gifts and resources within us, and once identified these will provide a good foundation for building on additional skills. I want to assist you in identifying and building on your current strengths to help you achieve your own goals. Often my clients have many of the skills they need to get through a situation, they just need someone to help them recognize and renew these skills to put back into practice.
On a more personal note, I am married and raising 4 teenagers/young adults. Naturally, I incorporate those 20 years of parenting experience into my work, as well as a healthy dose of humor to maintain a positive focus. I have a passion to help young people develop confidence in who they are and to help family members maintain a healthy connection with one another. I would be honored to assist you in being your best!
